I can’t say enough good things about Matthew Varnado and Wakeless Mobile Marine. If you boat on Smith Mountain Lake and need a mechanic you can genuinely trust, look no further. Matthew handled both routine maintenance and a surprise complex engine diagnosis and repair on my boat at the end of last season, and he knocked it out of the park on both fronts. The maintenance work was thorough and done right — no shortcuts and no upselling on things I didn’t need. But where Matthew truly separated himself was the engine diagnosis. He tracked down the problem methodically, explained exactly what he was finding and why it mattered, and fixed it correctly the first time even though I am quite sure that the repair took much longer than anticipated. That kind of diagnostic skill and work ethic is hard to find. What I also appreciated was the communication throughout the process. Matthew kept me informed at every step including providing photos and videos. He was upfront about what the work involved and his pricing was very fair. Matthew clearly takes real pride in doing the job right rather than just getting it done. His mobile service model is also a huge convenience and Matthew was willing to both come by boat and by land depending on the circumstances. Owner Matt is very knowledgeable and very professional. Has worked on my 21 ft Sea Ray Bowrider. He has lots of knowledge and helpful tips to keep boat running in tip top shape. Would highly recommend for maintenance and repairs.
